About this role

Commercial HVAC Operations has an opportunity for a Site Materials Manager to lead the team onsite in Charlotte NC.

The Site Materials Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing material management processes within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of materials planning, supply chain management, inventory control, and production scheduling to ensure the efficient flow of materials throughout the factory. The Materials Manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to drive improvements in material management practices and contribute to overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Materials Planning
  • Master Scheduling across the factory
    • Develop and implement standard work for Master Scheduling across the factory
    • Collaborate with SIOP (Sales Inventory & Operations Planning) and Master Scheduling teams to align demand allocation with production capacity
    • Ensure efficient allocation of materials and capacity to support production schedules
    • PFEP (Plan for Every Part) Compliance and Gap Analysis
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive PFEP process including replenishment strategies and safety stock levels
    • Identify opportunities to streamline material flow while achieving financial inventory targets
    • Conduct gap analysis and implement corrective actions as needed
    • Capacity Roll‑up at BU Level
    • Aggregate and analyze capacity data to support planning/SIOP functions
    • Assist in capacity planning and resource allocation decisions
  • Inventory Management
    • Optimize inventory levels to meet operational demands while minimizing carrying costs.
    • Implement inventory control strategies and monitor stock levels.
    • Implement Excess & Obsolete management process
  • Production Control / Short‑Term Production Planning
    • Work order creation and maintenance
    • Monitor work in progress and order closure timeliness
    • Determine build plan sequence and signal materials handling accordinglyClear To Build
    • Monitor material inventory levels and supplier commits to understand clear to build
    • Work with purchasing to identify and mitigate material constraints
  • Material Delivery Assurance
    • Ensure on‑time delivery of materials to support production schedules
    • Develop and maintain scorecards to assess critical supplier performance
    • Support critical material issues and facilitate escalations as necessary
  • Procurement
    • Create and maintain purchase orders in accordance with MRP schedule
    • Monitor supplier lead times and maintain supplier master data
    • Establish and maintain supplier scorecard reviews
  • Logistics & Warehouse Management
    • Drive daily operational execution at 3PL and warehouses to deliver on time to customers
    • Optimize logistics and transportation processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
    • Improve kitting and staging processes to drive factory 5S and efficient material handling
    • Warehouse footprint optimization and structural cost reduction
    • Shipping & Receiving responsibilities to the factory
    • Drive >95% inventory accuracy across the 3PL, warehouses, and factory
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years plus experience in material management, supply chain, or production control
  • 7 years plus organizational leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration
  • Master's degree
  • Knowledge of PFEP, inventory management, and supply chain best practices
  • Logistics and transportation optimization
  • Experience in “high mix low volume manufacturing”
  • Knowledge/experience with ERP systems and/or planning software
  • Project management skills and familiarity with PMO practices
  • Supplier relationship management and performance metrics
  • Collaboration skills and to lead cross‑functional teams and drive process improvements
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills
