Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking a Site Manager for OSS to lead and optimize operations at a Hawthorne, CA location. You will oversee safety, regulatory compliance, and profitability while guiding Supervisors, Leads, and staff.

You’ll collaborate with Health & Safety, Regulatory, and HR teams and interface with customers on service delivery, project management, and KPI tracking. Responsibilities include maintaining safety programs, managing on-site personnel, coordinating logistics, and ensuring

Qualifications

  • Requires 3–5 years of experience in waste operations, hazardous waste, recycling, or materials operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain 100% safety track record by adhering to SOPs and conducting Toolbox Talks and JHA.
  • Manage local on-site team including hiring, performance reviews, and development.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with regulatory agencies and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Serve as the face of Univar Solutions and liaison with the customer and field teams.
  • Identify new project opportunities with Business Development and Account Managers.
  • Oversee logistics including manifests, BOLs, routing, and waste profiling per DOT guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain vendor network, optimize routing, and maximize rebates.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and housekeeping of ISS assets to optimize equipment runtime.
  • Train staff on customer policies and ensure required safety trainings are completed.
  • Own P&L for the site location and contribute to financial goals.
  • Contribute to Capital Equipment specifications and budget planning.
  • Provide emergency response at customer locations as needed.
  • Accurately report labor hours for customer billing.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly/quarterly calls for H&S, compliance, and financial reviews.

The Site Manager for OSS oversees and ensures that operations at a customer location are safe, compliant, profitable, and efficient. The Site Manager provides direct support and oversight to various operations staff including but not limited to Supervisors, Leads, Material Handlers, Warehouse Workers, and Administrative Staff. This role works alongside Health and Safety Managers, Regulatory Managers and Human Resource Managers, while reporting directly to District and Regional Operations Management. This is a customer facing role who provides guidance as needed in the sale of services, purchasing of equipment, project management, KPI tracking and maintaining strict adherence to contracts while being solution oriented.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Maintain 100% safety track record by developing and adhering to SOP’s, conducting Toolbox Talks, Job Hazard Analysis, and reporting Near Misses

Manage the local on-site team by providing daily direction. Perform recommendations on hiring, firing, performance reviews, development, and succession planning

Ensure environmental compliance with customer, local and national regulatory agencies, adhering to permits, and maintain proper record keeping for audits both internally and externally

Serve as the face of the company and primary liaison between ISS and the Customer, fielding all requests, questions, comments or concerns to ensure needs are being met

Work with Business Development and Account Managers to identify new project opportunities, formal quoting process

Manage logistics including manifests, BOL’s, pickup, routing, and profiling of waste to DOT guidelines

Establish and maintain vendor network and relationships, managing least cost routing and disposal outlets, maximizing rebates, and utilization of cost reducing service providers

Ensure optimal equipment runtime by adhering to all maintenance, upkeep and housekeeping of ISS assets

Train staff on customer policies and procedures. Ensure staff has all required safety trainings in LMS

Ownership of Profit and Loss of Site Location to meet financial goals

Participate in Capital Equipment specifications and recommendation for future budgetary year

Provide Emergency Response on Customer Locations as needed

Responsible for accurate reporting of labor hours for accurate customer billing

Attend weekly, monthly, quarterly calls, representing your site for H&S, Compliance, Financial review

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or higher degree preferred. Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree

3-5 years' experience in waste operations, hazardous waste, recycling, or material operations management

Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong computer skills with Microsoft Suite

Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the chemical industry, i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, specific state agency rules and laws or demonstrated ability to attain such knowledge

HazMat certified, HAZWOPER Certification

Experience with Contract adherence and negotiation

This role will be based out of Hawthorne, CA.

PAY & BENEFITS:
  • The salary range for this position is $113,920 - $125,000 annually.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location
  • Available employee benefits include health, vision, dental coverage, along with industry-leading retirement and time off programs; union benefits vary in accordance with the respective CBA
