Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Site Leader to oversee operations of a Fulfillment Center, manage a large team of salaried and hourly staff, drive safety, productivity, and customer experience, and mentor leaders across the site.

You will plan 3, 6, and 12 month strategies, collaborating with HR, Finance, Maintenance, and IT to deliver cost savings and process improvements while balancing strategy with hands-on execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of direct management experience across salaried, hourly, and agency workforce.
  • Proven track record of delivering performance and financial results in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience with full lifecycle staffing: interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, terminations.
  • Strong analytical capability; able to dig into data and drive solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing third-party resources regionally/nationally.
  • Experience managing a contingent workforce during peak seasons.

Our Site Leader play a crucial role in exceeding expectations and providing a superb customer experience; critical to Amazon’s success which is built on a foundation of customer obsession, and innovation. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution. The Site Leader is responsible for all aspects of the operations of a functional area for one of our Fulfillment Centers including, people management and development, process, and meeting or exceeding the expectations and promise made to our customers. You will lead a dynamic team of Operations and Area Managers to achieve operational excellence through coaching and mentoring the team; driving employee engagement, and building leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.

As a senior leader you will oversee upwards of 1,000+ salaried and hourly employees, in a fast-paced, complex operations facility up to a million square feet.

Key job responsibilities

Owns and delivers the operational budget for functional area, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for outbound, or inbound operations

Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season planning

Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives; works on strategic projects that have total building and network-wide impact. Effectively leverages the Operations and Area Managers to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the building.

Networks with other leaders across the network to solicit and share process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings.

Establishes objectives and metrics for safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience

Sets clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area Managers. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable

Mentors and develops leaders and staff

Participates in recruiting to identify and evaluate associates and internal/external candidates for promotion and hire.

Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Maintenance Engineering, Safety, IT and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays

  • 7+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried, hourly and agency workforce, in a logistics, fulfillment, last-mile manufacturing, engineering, production or distribution environment

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering performance and financial based results in high pressure environments

  • Experience in performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies

  • Experience with full lifecycle staffing, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations

  • Strong analytical capability; track record of digging into data and finding solutions for a variety of operational problems

  • Excellent communication skills (including local language and English, written and verbal)

  • Experience managing third party resources on a regional/national scale

  • Experience managing contingent workforce in a business with peak seasons

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred

  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons

  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations

  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
