Role Overview
The Site Lead is a critical role in the company. As a fundamental member of our team, the Site Lead manages daily menu execution and school site operations to company standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday. The Site Lead will work in an elementary, middle school, or high school setting, preparing meals, leading a team of cooks and preps, and ensuring high quality service to students and educators.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily preparation and service for breakfast, snack, and/or lunch.
- Execute meals according to the daily menu and recipe standards.
- Provide on‑time service in accordance with the minute‑by‑minute school schedule for the location.
- Manage food service associates as direct reports and ensure they follow procedures, clock in on time, and provide excellent customer service.
- Complete accurate National School Lunch–compliant production records that track what was served for each meal and document daily meal components and presentation.
- Accountable for the school’s financial performance, including effective inventory management and food waste management.
- Receive deliveries, check all products for quality and accuracy before signing for acceptance, and alert appropriate parties of discrepancies.
- Ensure all food safety practices are followed, including proper rotation, food waste, and inventory management protocols.
- Take daily physical inventory and place orders accordingly.
- Maintain standards as outlined by the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene for a food‑safe environment and report immediately any issues such as equipment or facility related.
- Serve as the face of Genuine Foods, warmly and respectfully greeting and interacting with students, teachers and parents, and encouraging students to try new foods.
- Report to the field manager and culinary and operations directors and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of food or customer service supervisor experience/training in a mid‑high volume food service facility or restaurant.
- Creative problem‑solver who brings passion, enthusiasm and fresh ideas.
- Proven track record of being organized, dependable and self‑motivated.
- Team builder and ability to successfully manage and develop a team.
- Able to work independently and manage up and down.
- Able to climb stairs and lift up to 50lbs.
- Interest in and commitment to Genuine Foods’ mission to use food to help students enhance their minds, bodies and happiness.
- Must be able to work in a school environment among kids grades K‑12.
