Rural Metro Fire Department seeks an experienced fire service professional for a leadership role in Cameron County, TX. The Chief Officer will plan, organize and direct the business unit as part of a customer’s industrial fire brigade, with responsibilities including hiring, firing, and overall P&L management.

The role may require duties as regular field staff and entails driving profitability, market growth, and compliance with company policies across the assigned area.

Rural Metro Fire Department is seeking an experienced fire service professional for an anticipated contract award in Cameron County, TX. We are seeking a proven professional with Chief Officer experience in leading a start up operation in an industrial setting.

Job Summary:

As the primary representative of theCompany,he/she willplan,organizeand direct the business unitthat is part of a customer’s industrial fire brigade. This positionis responsible forthe hiring and firing and all other duties assigned to a Fire Chief of a full-service fire/EMS/rescue emergencyteam.

While this position is inclusive of management duties (company site supervisor)thisemployee maybe requiredto fill a position on the schedule as a regular field staff member (firefighter) and perform the same duties as field staff.

Must manage the business unitin accordance withall company philosophies, strategies, goals,objectives,principlesand procedures. Responsible for creating annual revenue and operating plan to achieve profit and lossobjectivesin the area assigned.

Essential Functions:

Operational Objectives

  • Meet or exceed budgeted operating profitobjectivesinareaassigned.
  • Drive toward increased market share by supportingobjectivesfor conversion, penetration, and retention withintheassigned operation.
  • Drive increased business growth.
  • Visit all direct reports daily (during the work week),including any secondary operations, as assigned,and anyacquisitionlocations assigned.
  • Coach and develop supervisoryteamto achieve individual and operationalrevenue, operating profit, and expense goals andobjectives.
  • Maintain relationships with strategic local municipalities and political leaders.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators and operational performance data
  • Operate to meet or exceed operating profitobjectives.
  • Maintain fullemployment within assigned area.
  • Manage local relationships tooptimizeprofitability.
  • Manageassets within the areaassignedto controlexpense.
  • Accountable for fiscal management of areaassigned.

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Create a culture that provides exceptional service at all levels.

  • Maintain an in-depth and complete knowledge of competitor activity within the area assigned. Analyze intelligence data and provide recommendations for future action plans.
  • Develop brand and name awareness.

Human Resource Management

  • Ensurefull employment within thearea assignedand workhand-in-handwithsenior management andHR to ensure that positions are filled quickly and that quality candidates are hired andretained.
  • Work withsenior management and HRtoidentifytraining locations, interview candidates, and train new employees.
  • UseSuccessionPlanning process to build theorganization,identifyandretaintalent, and prepare employeesforpromotion.
  • Provide direction to direct reports to initiate appropriate levels of training, and to promote an environment consistent withRural/Metroculture throughout the area assigned.
  • Accountability forfollowingCollective BargainingAgreementswithin areas assigned.
  • Conducttimelyand informative meetings with staff. Cascade information ina timelyfashion.
  • Overall accountability for compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as compliancein assignedarea.
  • Works effectively with theRegional Directorto ensure a detailed,organizedand highly efficient approach.
  • Support corporate initiatives.

Compliance

  • Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.
  • Ensures and inspects paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
  • Responsible for escalating concernsregardingquestionable paperwork toappropriate management.
  • Has successfully completed all required Compliance Training within the requiredtime period.
  • Has had no compliance related corrective action during the current review period.

Additional Duties:

Systems Skills

  • A working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Use data fromdifferent sourcestoidentifyissues and quicklyidentifythe central or underlying issues in a complex situation.

  • Proven knowledge of local,stateand federal rules and regulations as applied to the fire service and ambulance industry.
  • Proven knowledge of“best practices” information sources and organizations available to fire service managers.
