Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer to manage large, complex construction work at the project site, ensuring safe, smooth, and effective operations. The role covers road, bridge, building, and other large projects and is safety-sensitive.

You will design temporary structures, inspect equipment, direct site teams, and monitor progress. Qualifications include a B.S. in Engineering and at least one year as a field engineer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous field engineer experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and machinery.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and detail orientation.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends; travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Designs temporary structures used during construction with emphasis on safety considerations.
  • Inspects installed equipment and technologies; solves issues that may arise.
  • Directs foremen or workers on-site.
  • Conducts research and accurately reports on project status.
  • Performs quality control inspections and checks work for compliance with contract documents.
  • Verifies proper materials are used and that installations meet timelines and requirements.
  • Affirms safety compliance and enforces proper PPE on site.
  • May oversee project budget and communications.
