Job summary

YMC is seeking an organized individual to plan, organize and conduct classroom activities for the School's Out program after school, with supervision of the Associate Executive Director of Education.

You will oversee daily operations from 2:30pm-6:00pm, perform paraprofessional duties mornings, and handle summer logistics while adhering to EEC regulations and documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in any field or high school diploma with related experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
  • 1 year experience in customer service or relations and staff supervision.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex, critical problem solving independently.
  • Knowledge of child development techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation during the afterschool hours (2:30pm-6:00pm) at the School's Out program.
  • Paraprofessional duties from 10:00am-1:45pm at assigned schools.
  • Adhere to EEC regulations and maintain required documentation and ratios.
  • Support fundraising efforts and engage with members/community partners.
  • Provide leadership to Group Leaders in child supervision and youth programming.
  • Create a safe, learning-conducive environment with proper guidance techniques.
  • Plan schedules including Health & Wellness, Academic Support, and 21st Century Skills.
  • Submit required paperwork on time and coordinate site logistics.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Education, plan, organize and conduct classroom for the School's Out Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Oversee the daily operation during the afterschool hours of 2:30pm-6:00pm at the School's Out program at a given site(s) under the guidance of the supervising director.
  • Paraprofessional duties assigned from the hours of 10:00am-1:45pm at a given school(s).
  • Administrative duties and/or summer camp placement as assigned during the summer months.
  • Adhere to, implement and maintain Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) state regulations, including but not limited to required check lists, children, staff, program documentation and staff-to-child ratios.
  • Support fundraising by participating in the YMCA Annual Campaign; ask members or community partners to support the YMCA.
  • Provide leadership to Group Leaders at an assigned site in the areas of: child supervision, youth programming and parent relationships.
  • Role model acceptable behaviors and decision-making for participants and peers.
  • Actively participate in all related meetings, in-services, trainings and activities.
  • Utilize appropriate guidance and developmental techniques with participants to create an orderly environment that is conducive to learning and child safety.
  • Enforce and support the policies contained in the Y Parent Guide, Behavior Management Guide and Staff Handbook.
  • Implement and expand all Y curriculum and evaluation standards.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with families and children in the program as well as the Public School.
  • Submit all required paperwork including lesson and activity plans, attendance, and snack counts on time.
  • Coordinate and submit logistical needs for a site around supplies.
  • Evaluate programs and staff on an ongoing basis and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of Y-provided professional development training per calendar year.
  • Create a monthly newsletter and calendar using Microsoft Office software.
  • Submit attendance weekly by using Excel and Microsoft One Drive.
  • Serve as the key person responsible for child safety and risk mitigation at a given site(s).
  • Plan a well-rounded schedule to include the following components: Health & Wellness; Academic Support; 21st Century Skills; Leadership Development; Service Learning; Arts & Humanities; Global Learning; Diversity and Inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates Degree in any field of study and nine months of experience working with school-age children; or
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with school-age children.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in customer service or relations and staff supervision.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex, critical problem solving independently.
  • Knowledge of and ability to learn appropriate child development techniques.
  • Demonstrated track record of timeliness and punctuality.
