Job summary

STO Building Group in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. You will supervise direct labor, manage contracted work, and ensure on-time project completion.

You will coordinate with the Project Manager, review look-ahead schedules, and direct procurement to meet timelines. Strong communication, leadership, and field-management skills are essential for success in this

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial construction.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project site.
• Understands building codes and reads blueprints accurately.
• Knowledge of subcontractors’ scopes and tolerances.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
• Experience with cost control and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction, based on schedules, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinates with Project Manager to determine project schedule and use look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinates pre-construction meeting with Project Manager before mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Ensures all parties are informed of construction issues and progress with regular meetings.
• Resolves conflicts and coordinates with supervisors, subcontractors, and clients as needed.
• Inspects work to ensure conformance with specifications and schedules.
• Manages project progress, materials used, and costs; adjusts schedules accordingly.
• Moves personnel between projects to optimize labor costs and staffing.
