Job summary

Gradient Group is seeking an innovative Civil Engineer to join our Site Development team in Houston. The ideal candidate will create engineering and construction plans based on calculations and research, with strong design skills using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and H&H.

The role requires 4+ years of site development experience, a Texas PE, and excellent communication to interact with clients and consultants. You will lead CAD Designers, manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules while ensuring QA/QC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 4+ years of site development civil engineering experience.
• Texas PE license is required; familiarity with local jurisdictions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce private/public site work and civil construction plans, reports, and studies.
• Oversee daily project operations and deliverables.
• Mentor CAD Designers and junior team members to achieve quality output.
• Manage client needs, project scopes, budgets, and scheduling.
• Coordinate with consultants and manage design efforts.
• Review environmental, geotechnical, and traffic reports for design.
• Attend meetings with clients and present proposed solutions and design approaches.
• Oversee construction administration: submittals, RFIs, site visits.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance for every phase of the project.
• Engage in business development activities and assignments.

Job description

Gradient Group is looking for an innovative Civil Engineer to join our Site Development team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with creating engineering and construction plans for a variety of development projects based on their calculations and any research conducted. This person should have experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, H&H and be able to utilize strong design skills.

Key Technical Responsibilities:

• Producing private/public site work & civil engineering construction plans, reports, and studies for various projects.
• Overseeing daily operations and deliverables that may be necessary for the projects.
• Achieve project objectives by managing CAD Designers and junior team members.
• Manage client needs, project scopes, budgets, support personnel, and schedule.
• Management of consultants for design efforts outside of those handled by Gradient Group.
• Review and summarize environmental, geotechnical, traffic, and other essential reports for design implementation.
• Attend meetings with clients and consultants to understand project needs and issues, as well as present proposed solutions and design approaches.
• Construction administration management for submittals, RFI’s, and site visits with direct Contractor communication and field problem-solving capabilities.
• Comply and enforce QA/QC procedures for every phase of the project.
• Business development activities and assignments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience for site development civil engineering projects.
• Texas PE Required.
• Experience with local jurisdictional governments related to design criteria and permitting (City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, Ft Bend County, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in regard to project calls and correspondence.
