Job summary

Jackson State University is seeking a Site Care Technician to maintain and enhance the appearance and health of the campus grounds, including lawns, gardens and landscapes.

You will operate power mowers, blowers and edgers, plant, fertilize, water, trim and prune shrubs, trees and flowers, and spray for weeds and insects. A valid Mississippi driver’s license and physical fitness are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years' landscaping/groundskeeping experience.
• Must lift 50 lbs or more and meet physical requirements.
• Must have a valid Mississippi driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, gardens, and landscapes on campus.

Job description

The Department of Facilities and Construction Management is accepting applications for a Site Care Technician.

A Site Care Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance and health of the University grounds, including lawns, gardens and other landscapes.

• Will operate power mowers, blowers and edgers.
• Will also plant, fertilize, water, trim and prune shrubs, trees and flowers.
• Spray for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
• Perform minor maintenance/repair on equipment and tools as required.
• Keep all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.
• May assist other groundskeeping crew or personnel as directed by supervisor.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Candidate must have 1-3 years' experience in landscaping, groundskeeping or in a related field.
• Must be able to lift 50 tbs. or more and meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Must have a valid Mississippi Driver's license.
• Candidate must have a willingness to perform grounds maintenance and groundskeeping fur the upkeep of the University grounds.
