Job summary

Ringway Worcester is seeking an experienced Site Manager to plan, deliver and control the Highways Schemes programmes in line with Ringway policies. You will liaise with client representatives, manage operational and commercial matters, and ensure safe, high-quality works within budget and programme.

Key requirements include SMSTS or SSSTS, a valid driving licence, 3+ years in construction supervision/management, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• SMSTS and/or SSSTS certificates are required.
• Driving licence is required.
• At least 3 years experience in a construction/civil engineering supervisory/management role.
• Competence with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, TEAMS).
• Flexible and approachable attitude.
• Demonstrable knowledge of highway scheme delivery.

Responsibilities

• Safely deliver the Highways Schemes programmes of work.
• Take full responsibility for operational and commercial matters.
• Understand and promote Ringway policies for Worcestershire.
• Liaise between senior Ringway management, client reps, and teams to meet budget and programme with high quality.
• Provide correct documentation to client reps, including programmes and safe systems of work.
• Maintain high standards of environmental, safety and health in line with policy and guidelines.
• Understand highway industry standards and ringway pricing, costing, and billing processes.
• Advise during Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) to ensure buildable designs.
• Oversee construction processes to meet milestones per ISO standards and CDM2015.
• Ensure safe systems of work and permit processes are in place.
• Train and competent the operational team.
• Communicate with operations and contractors and maintain safety culture.
• Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers as needed.

Duties

• Safely deliver the Highways Schemes programmes of work
• Take full responsibility for operational and commercial matters
• Understand and promote the Company Policy relating to Ringway operations in Worcestershire.
• Liaise between senior Ringway management, client representatives and commercial team, supervisors and workforce to ensure works are undertaken to budget and programme while ensuring the absolute highest quality standards are met
• Ensure the client representative are provided with correct documentation including programmes, safe systems of work and the like in line with current industry standards
• Maintain the highest standards of environmental, safety and health in line with company policy and industry guidelines
• Have an excellent understanding of Highways industry standards relating to works on highway improvement projects
• Understand the Ringway commercial and finance process of pricing, costing, and billing to ensure accurate and timely orders for works are received from the client and payment for those works are received by utilising the company QS and finance team.
• Provide advice through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) with the client representatives to ensure designs for works are fit for purpose and buildable
• Take charge of the construction process ensuring all milestones of the project are met and adhered to following industry standards to ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 and an excellent understanding of the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM2015)
• Ensure processes are in place to provide compliant safe systems of work, including temporary works processes, permitting systems applicable to the works, lift plans and the like. Check and sign off for implementation similar documentation provided by specialist contractors for structures works
• Ensure the operational team are trained and competent to undertake the roles required of them
• Ensure information is provided to and from the rest of the operations teams and contractors as required and feed information back through the management team to maintain an excellent health and safety culture
• Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers for works as the need arises.

Person Specification

Required

• Current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate and/or Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate
• Driving Licence
• At least 3 years experience in a construction/civil engineering supervisory/management role
• Competence with using Microsoft Office computer programmes, such as Word, Excel, Project, TEAMS
• Flexible and approachable attitude
• Demonstrable knowledge of scheme delivery on the highway

Preferred / Favourable

• New Roads & Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Supervisor
• ICE or equivalent industry qualification
• Temporary works co-ordinator
• Experience of working at height, working around watercourses, works in confined spaces, undertaking excavation/digging and reconstruction using block paving or slabs
• First Aid at Work
• Trade or engineering background
