Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light in Detroit seeks an experienced operations leader to oversee day-to-day site activities, guide strategic planning, and supervise staff. You will manage program delivery, budgets, and compliance with Salvation Army policies while coordinating with funding sources and community partners.

Ideal candidates hold a master’s in health/human services or related field, Michigan credentials, and at least 4 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in health/human services, business management, or public administration, or bachelor’s with equivalent experience.
  • Appropriate State of Michigan substance abuse credentials.
  • At least four (4) years of successful supervisory experience.
  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur License and approved by The Salvation Army MVR.
  • TB test, police clearance, and MDOC LEIN clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a Strategic Plan that includes operational goals, objectives and evaluation
  • Assure delivery of services in a cost-effective/efficient manner
  • Develop and implement programs as planned
  • Assist in preparing, implementing, and maintaining a budget
  • Knowledge of existing contracts and their requirements
  • Act as a liaison to all funding sources as necessary to assure provision of client services
  • Represent The Harbor Light in community functions and/or committees, as necessary
  • Submit all reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee, Executive Administration, and other committees deemed necessary by the Executive Director
  • Participate in educational courses, seminars, workshops, current literature, and in-service meetings to enhance treatment programming
  • Provide for client safety, security, and services
  • Monitor compliance of Harbor Light policies and procedures across all staff levels
  • Oversee all maintenance and housekeeping activities
  • Respond to all site emergencies, following the approved Policies and Procedures of The Harbor Light
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding supervised staff
  • Verify and approve hours worked for employees and submit information to the payroll person in a timely manner
  • Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission Statements.
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and Procedures
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • HIPAA - Level 1 access to Clinical Records

Paid Time Off

  • Sick days begin accruing the first of the month after one full calendar month after employment begins, and you may begin to use sick days after (90) days of employment.
    • Up to (6) earned sick days per year may be used as discretionary days.
  • Vacation begins accruing the first of the month after one full calendar month after employment begins, and you may begin to use vacation days after (90) days of employment.
    • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
  • You will receive (1) personal day this year, and (2) personal days per calendar year thereafter.
  • Paid holidays are effective immediately.
