Job summary

Vista America is seeking a Simulator Technician to maintain and repair flight training devices (FTDs) in line with regulatory requirements and company standards. The role includes modifying hardware, performing configuration changes, and supporting daily operations within the Learning Center environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of electronics experience, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency with test equipment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronics or completion of a civilian/military electronics training.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in electronics or related technical field.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
• Ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
• Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard Simulator support activities.
• Configure Simulators and FTDs; evaluate and confirm proper post-change operation.
• Identify, troubleshoot, repair or replace electrical and sub-system components with minimal assistance.
• Monitor Simulator performance to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Report safety hazards per SMS and applicable procedures.
• Maintain familiarity with QT Guide (QTG) and related documentation.
• Suggest parts or materials needed for repairs and support.
• Support Learning Center daily operations and procedures.

Job Profile

The Simulator Technician maintains and /or repairs flight training devices (FTDs) in accordance with Regulatory Authority requirements and company standards. May also make mechanical modifications, updates and repairs to enhance the performance of the FTDs. Key Responsibilities

• The Simulator Technician successfully completes diverse tasks of the job; applies and enhances knowledge and skill in both usual and unusual issues; may need some guidance in addressing unusual situations.
• Perform standard Simulator support activities
• Perform configuration changes to Simulators and FTDs, evaluate and confirm proper post- change operation.
• Identify, troubleshoot, repair or replace most of the Simulator and FTD electrical and sub system components and most hydraulic system components with little to no assistance.
• Monitor Simulator(s) performance and condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
• Demonstrate familiarity with governing regulations for the proper operation of all FTDs, the facility, and the safe employment of personnel.
• Able to accomplish basic tasks associated with the Qualification Test Guide (QTG)
• Demonstrate knowledge of all Simulator Support, Quality Operating Procedures (QOPs), and related documentation.
• Make recommendations concerning needed parts, acquisitions, or other material used for FTD repair and support.
• Report any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building as per company Safety Management System (SMS) directive.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Learning Center daily department operations and applicable procedures

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronics from a college or completion of a civilian/military electronics technical school preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience – can include civilian or military electronics, or related technical experience.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
• Ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
• Proficiency in operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).
• Knowledge in analog and digital theory.
• Computer literate (PC and/or computer mainframe/architecture).
• Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite.
