Job summary

Insitu is seeking a Software Engineer on the Simulation team to design, develop, and test simulation software using MATLAB/Simulink and C++. You will help build modular physics components for aerodynamics, actuators, payloads, and environmental effects, under guidance from senior engineers.

You will collaborate with systems engineers and airframe designers to align software with aircraft requirements and integrate AI-enhanced features into workflows. Relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with simulation development using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Solid grounding in programming with C++ or similar OO languages.
• Strong math/physics base (dynamics, control, numerical methods).
• Interest in fixed-wing/rotorcraft aerodynamics and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test simulation software with modern languages and best practices.
• Develop modular physics components (aerodynamics, actuators, payloads, environment).
• Collaborate with systems engineers and airframe designers to align software with requirements.
• Implement, test, and refine simulations of physical, digital, or hybrid systems.
• Learn to use AI tools and basic ML to improve fidelity under mentorship.
• Integrate simulations into engineering workflows and customer-facing solutions.
• Write clear code comments and contribute to docs and maintenance of repos.
• Stay informed about sim tech and share improvement ideas.
