Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) seeks a software engineer to determine user requirements, plan development, implement design, and document software within a defense program.

You will troubleshoot hardware/software integration and work with stakeholders across the lifecycle. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, 2+ years of progressive software development, strong C/C++, and exposure to Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline; 2+ years progressive software development experience.
• Strong understanding of software development concepts and basic programming/analysis principles.
• Good foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and working knowledge of Java or Python.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts in evolving environments.
• Good communication, computer and interpersonal skills for documentation and collaboration.
• Experience with Linux and strong debugging skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team; DoD security clearance is required.

Job Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline and two or more years progressive software development experience with a bachelor’s degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
• Must have a basic understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate the ability to follow and apply basic use of programming and analysis concepts.
• A strong candidate should have a good foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object orientated programming concepts.
• A strong candidate should have a good understanding of C or C++ as well as a working understanding of Java or Python.
• Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
• Good communication, computer and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience.
• Experienced in Linux
• Strong debugging skills
• The ability to work both independently and on a team is essential.
• Able to work extended hours as required.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Hourly

Salary range: 87,070 - 132,963
