Description:
The Simulation Engineer CO-Op is a student and is responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of simulation projects in multiple different industries including oil and gas, pulp and paper, power and water, chemical, mining, and life sciences. The Simulation Engineer will be involved from initial client discussions through to commissioning of solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Possess the general engineering knowledge to identify the process and unit operations by reading and interpreting customer provided data, including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, steady state models, and historical data.
- Achieve a thorough understanding of client processes, the Prosera Project Execution Methodology, and client strengths, needs, and wants.
- Be able to create basic programming and logic to meet a project’s need in areas such as writing custom calculations of various processes.
- Using the boundaries of scope and schedule, build simulations that meet customer expectations and needs. Do this within the project schedule time and execution in an organized manner that effectively maximizes efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, Prosera employees, and partners involved in the project. When dealing with new or unforeseen issues, have the perseverance and patience to solve these problems. Know project responsibilities and how they fit within the project execution.
- Have an understanding of process control systems and the instrumentation involved in the control of a process. Know the modes of control and how the control system interacts with different equipment to effectively control the process. Use this knowledge to integrate the Mimic simulation to the control system using appropriate connections.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Student in Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred).
- Communication (oral and written) skills.
- Must meet background check, drug testing, and safety training requirements for access to client sites.
- Must have valid driver's license to drive to client sites.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including internationally if needed.
- Ability to meet project deadlines and maintain consistency with existing project schedules.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Experience with Aspen, Mimic, PetroSim, or other simulation software.
- Experience with Emerson, ABB, Honeywell, Schneider, or Rockwell control systems.
