Job summary

The University System of New Hampshire seeks a Standardized Patient Actor to portray patients and other roles in simulation-based learning. You will deliver consistent verbal and nonverbal cues, adapt to learners, and support a safe educational environment at UNH’s Durham campus.

Requirements include a high school diploma, memorization ability, and strong communication. Healthcare, acting, or teaching experience is a plus. Flexible scheduling including evenings/weekends may apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to memorize information, follow detailed instructions, and perform consistently.
  • Prior acting, teaching, healthcare, customer service, or training experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to portray a wide range of emotions, behaviors, and physical presentations.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain role boundaries and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Portray patients, caregivers, or other roles in simulations that align with case scripts and objectives.
  • Deliver consistent verbal, nonverbal, emotional, and physical cues across repeated learner encounters.
  • Adapt performance in real time while maintaining case fidelity and educational intent.
  • Participate in simulation activities including clinical skills practice and interprofessional education.
  • Provide structured, objective feedback to learners after sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of learners, cases, and assessment outcomes.
