Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Materials R&D Technician, Silicon Wafer Engineering to partner with engineering and rapidly bring online state-of-the-art silicon wafer fab R&D lines. You will develop and refine recipes for producing high-quality wafers used in internal solar cell fabrication for Starlink satellites and Starship missions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in semiconductor wafer manufacturing or cleanroom operations.
• 1+ year handling flammable, toxic, or hazardous chemicals safely.
• Bachelor's or associate degree in a STEM field preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on silicon wafer manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering to bring online silicon wafer fab R&D lines.
• Drive equipment commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Perform wafer processing tasks to produce low-defect wafers.
• Execute DOEs to optimize silicon recycling and minimize contamination.
• Test supplier materials and conduct contamination/performance analyses.
• Maintain wafer characterization lab equipment and perform calibrations.
• Uphold 5S and cleanroom protocols; ensure safe work environment.
