Job summary

Apple is seeking a Silicon Photonics Design Engineer to develop novel integrated photonic devices enabling breakthrough sensing in Apple products. You will design, simulate, and characterize silicon photonic components for next-generation photonic ICs, working with a multidisciplinary team to showcase new concepts.

The role emphasizes hands-on measurement, device characterization, and modeling, with collaboration across hardware teams in Cupertino.

Qualifications

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
Experience with simulation and modeling of photonic components.
Master’s or PhD degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields.
Deep understanding of optoelectronics, photonics, and semiconductor devices.
Extensive design and modeling experiences of passive and active components on SOI platforms.
Experience in circuit simulation, high order mode mitigation or polarization management.
Good understanding of optical measurement techniques and hands-on experience in device characterization.
Strong programming skills and proficiency in statistical data analysis in Python, Matlab, JMP or similar.
