Job description

Are you ready for greater technical ownership, a stronger voice in engineering decisions, and a direct connection between your work and customer success? Do you believe SI/PI is critical to modern hardware—and that AI can fundamentally transform how hardware is designed and manufactured?

At PCB Automation, we believe a small team of passionate engineers can make a big difference. We are currently looking to hire several SI/PI engineers of various experience levels who share that belief and want to help build what comes next.

Make SI/PI a driving force.

About PCB Automation

PCB Automation is a Silicon Valley-based technology company combining SI/PI expertise, innovative engineering solutions, and AI/ML-driven automation to advance PCB and package design. We bridge the gap between hardware companies’ needs and PCB/package manufacturers’ capabilities.

We are building toward an integrated design-to-manufacturing platform spanning layout, simulation, design verification, manufacturing coordination, and measurement. Our work addresses demanding challenges in AI computing, data centers, semiconductor packages, and other advanced hardware applications.

About the Role

You will help customers solve real-world signal and power integrity challenges while helping turn engineering knowledge into scalable, automated workflows. Your work will influence design decisions, customer outcomes, and the development of our technology. Examples include:

  • Driving SI/PI analysis and design optimization. Develop electrical constraints, perform pre-layout and post-layout simulations, identify risks, and recommend practical improvements for PCB and package designs.
  • Analyzing high-speed signal paths. Evaluate impedance, reflections, insertion loss, crosstalk, return paths, timing margins, and eye-diagram performance. Projects may involve DDR/LPDDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, and other SerDes interfaces.
  • Optimizing power delivery networks. Analyze DC voltage drop, current distribution, PDN impedance, decoupling effectiveness, and transient noise to improve power integrity and delivery efficiency.
  • Connecting simulation to implementation. Work with layout engineers, hardware teams, customers, and manufacturing partners on stackups, materials, routing, via structures, power planes, and manufacturability tradeoffs.
  • Building better engineering workflows. Use AI/ML and scripting to automate simulation setup, data processing, design checks, optimization, and reporting. Collaborate with software and AI/ML engineers to develop and validate reliable automation.
  • Communicating and validating results. Explain assumptions, findings, and recommendations clearly; support measurement correlation and debugging; and contribute reusable methods, models, and technical documentation.
Minimum Requirements
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 2+ years of relevant SI/PI experience.
  • Hands-on experience in SI, PI, or both, supported by a solid understanding of circuit theory, electromagnetic fundamentals, transmission line theory, and PCB/package design principles.
  • Experience with relevant simulation tools, such as Cadence Sigrity/Clarity, Ansys HFSS/SIwave, SPICE-based simulators, or comparable tools, and the ability to interpret results critically.
  • An ownership mindset: you can investigate unfamiliar problems, communicate technical tradeoffs, collaborate effectively, and carry work through to a useful engineering outcome.
  • A team player with strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High-speed channel modeling, IBIS/IBIS-AMI, S-parameters, EMC/ESD, or Power Electronics.
  • Python-based engineering automation, optimization, or practical applications of AI/ML.
  • Laboratory measurements using VNAs, TDRs, or oscilloscopes; simulation-to-measurement correlation; or PCB/package manufacturing and DFM/DFA workflows.
Why Join PCB Automation?

Revolutionize hardware design. Help translate SI/PI expertise into AI-enabled tools and repeatable workflows that improve how hardware is designed and manufactured.

Technical ownership. Help define advanced hardware solutions and influence design decisions.

Visible impact. Work closely with customers and a small engineering team, where your ideas and contributions directly shape outcomes.

Room to grow. Expand across PCB/package design, SI/PI simulation automation, customer problem-solving, manufacturing, measurement, and new technology development.
