Job summary

Carle Health in Illinois is seeking a Histotechnician to perform routine histopathology tasks including microtomy, embedding, cryotomy, immunohistochemistry and special stains to prepare specimens for pathologist review.

The role requires ASCP Histotechnician HT certification and relevant education; you will cut paraffin sections, prepare equipment, perform staining, manage slides and participate in quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification required.
• Certificate of Completion or higher in related field preferred.
• Related associate degrees accepted for qualification.

Responsibilities

• Cut routine paraffin sections of surgical and autopsy tissue for microscopic examination.
• Prepare equipment and reagents for processing, embedding, microtomy and processing of tissue.
• Perform routine and special staining techniques.
• Label, file, discard and maintain tissue, slides, and blocks.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures to maintain compliance with regulations.
• Evaluate acceptability as associated with department testing.
