FASTSIGNS Pittsburgh is seeking an Installation Assistant to act as the right hand to our Lead Installer. You will be transporting, assembling, and mounting custom signs across the region, learning electrical, carpentry, and architectural graphics along the way.

This hands-on role requires climbing, lifting, and outdoor work; the ideal candidate is handy with tools and eager to grow into a Lead Installer position.

Qualifications

• Reads a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
• Comfortable on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms (up to 30 ft+)
• Physical job: lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varied weather
• Mechanical aptitude: understands how parts fit together
• Reliable: clock-in early, trucks leave on time, dependability
• Clean driving record for insurance requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Installer in mounting channel letters, monument signs, and wall graphics.
• Conduct Pre-Flight check to ensure van is stocked with drills, bits, fasteners.
• Help secure signs into brick, concrete, and metal, ensuring level and safe installation.
• Act as ground-safety spotter during bucket truck and aerial lift operations.
• Learn the trade to move into a Lead Installer role.

Sign Installation Assistant / Trades Apprentice

Location: FASTSIGNS | Pittsburgh, PA

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour (Based on Experience)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Flexibility for occasional OT/early starts)

We are looking for an Installation Assistant to be the "right hand" to our Lead Installer. This is a high-energy, hands-on role where you will help transport, assemble, and mount custom signs across the region. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

• Support the Mission: Assist the Lead Installer in the safe and precise mounting of channel letters, monument signs, and high-end wall graphics.
• Master the Gear: Take ownership of the "Pre-Flight" check. You’ll ensure the van is fully stocked with the correct drill bits, fasteners, and hardware before leaving the shop.
• On-Site Precision: Help secure signs into brick, concrete, and metal. You’ll be the second set of hands ensuring everything is level, centered, and safe.
• Safety Watch: Act as the ground-safety spotter during bucket truck and aerial lift operations, ensuring the public and the crew remain safe.
• Learn the Trade: Proactively learn the technical skills required to eventually move into a Lead Installer role.

Who You Are (Requirements)

• Foundational Skill: You already know how to safely use a cordless drill, impact driver, and tape measure. You can read a tape measure to the 1/16th of an inch.
• Comfort with Heights: You are 100% comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms (up to 30ft+). No fear of heights allowed.
• Physical Grit: This is a physical job. You must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in the varied Pittsburgh weather.
• Mechanical Aptitude: You’re the person friends call when they need help fixing things. You understand how parts fit together.
• Reliability: You are a "clock-in-early" professional. Our trucks leave on time, and the team depends on you to be there.
• Clean Record: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required for our insurance.
