Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks a Rigger Helper for a project in Apex, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3 months.

The successful candidate will assist with rigging, select appropriate gear, and communicate with the lead rigger while following safety procedures on-site. This is an on-site position requiring readiness to work outdoors and in industrial environments.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Complete all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes at all times.

Responsibilities

• Assist with positioning of chain falls, hoists, blocks, rope, jacks, chains and rigging as directed by the Rigger.
• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load.
• Work with attaching rigging to fixed overhead structures (beams, ceilings, gin pole booms) using bolts and clamps.
• Inspect work sites to identify obstructions.
• Give verbal and hand signals as assigned.
• Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other workers.
• Secure material and rigging equipment for transport.
• Maintain housekeeping of areas and packing materials.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with the positioning of chain falls, hoists, blocks, rope, jacks, chains and rigging as directed by the Rigger

• Working knowledge in working with attaching rigging to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
