Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) in Santa Clara, CA seeks a Signal Integrity Lab Technician to assist with measurements and ensure DUTs meet specifications. The role involves using oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and digital microscopes, recording data in Excel, and collaborating with Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering teams.

Prior lab experience and basic postsecondary training in EE or related fields are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of postsecondary education in EE/ME/Physics/Math.
  • Strong numeric and statistical abilities.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, PCB layouts, schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Support measurements of device under test to meet specs.
  • Assist with frequency (S-Parameter) and time-domain (TDR, BERT) tests.
  • Assist with electrical measurements using oscilloscope, VNA, and digital microscope.
  • Help debug customer systems or cable assemblies in lab and field.
  • Record, store, and process data in Excel; create graphs and PowerPoint reports.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
  • Maintain lab safety and instrument handling discipline.

Position: SI Lab Technician
Location: Santa Clara, CA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Signal Integrity Lab Technician to join our team. The position will be located in Santa Clara, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SI Lab Technician will assist and perform necessary measurements of a device under test to ensure products operate within specification.

  • Work in the Signal Integrity Laboratory for the Signal Integrity Application Manager to ensure Electrical specifications of manufactured passive DUTs are met
  • Assist with frequency (S-Parameter), and time domain (TDR, BERT) measurements for new product and Sustaining Engineering and Operations
  • Assist with obtaining Electrical Measurements with a Oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, and Digital Microscope
  • Assist with debugging customer systems or cable assemblies both in the lab and on the field
  • Assist with performing repeatable measurements for experiments and characterizations
  • Assist with performing repeatable cycle or stress measurements using mechanical fixtures or obtain mechanical parameters
  • Accurately record, store, and process data in Excel to create graphs and reports with PowerPoint
  • Keep track of all work and experiments performed
  • Interact as needed with Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering teams
  • Display caution around highly sensitive equipment and performs work with consistency and precision
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum postsecondary education requirement of 1 to 2 years in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Strong geometric, numerical, and statistical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, PCB layouts and schematics, and block diagrams
    • Proficient in- Microsoft Products- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong accuracy and organizational skills
  • Must be self-motivated
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Repeatable Process: Connecting and disconnecting threaded cable connectors by hand requiring the use of precision torque and or static wrenches
  • Largely Sedentary role: This position will use benchtop instruments and computers

The base salary range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00hourly. In determining rate of pay, Amphenol considers a variety of nondiscriminatory factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant industry experience, qualifications, skills, and education. It would be rare for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a given role. Base salary is one facet of Amphenol's total rewards package which includes participation in our comprehensive benefits program with medical, dental, and vision benefits effective day 1, vacation, sick leave, personal days, paid holidays, life insurance, short/long term disability, and matching 401K.
