Job summary

National Shunt Service Ltd. in the United States is seeking a CDL A driver to perform yard movement and dock-to-dock pin-to-pin within a 2-mile radius.

You will use our proprietary dispatch software, adhere to DOT regulations and company SOPs, inspect trucks, and maintain clear communication with dispatch and yard control as part of a team dedicated to safe, efficient yard management.

Qualifications

• CDL A license is required.
• Relevant experience in freight/yard operations preferred.
• Experience with computer software and dispatch systems.

Responsibilities

• Move customer freight using dry van within a 2-mile radius (pin to pin).
• Adhere to load security regulations (DOT rules).
• Complete driver documentation per company, client, and DOT requirements.
• Follow company SOPs.
• Perform daily truck inspections.
• Maintain routine communication with dispatch and yard control.
• Utilize proprietary software to receive and complete moves as needed.
• Monitor truck condition and inform regional manager of repairs.
• Keep workplace clean and organized.
• Inspect trailers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

National Shunt Service Ltd. operates across North America and we specialize in yard management (shunting). Over 20 years of experience providing innovative yard management services (operations and technology), NSSL executes a TOTAL YARD MANAGEMENT PROGRAM for any type of warehouse, manufacturer or cross-dock operation in North America. We call it shunting but you may know it as: spotting, jockeying, yarding or switching.

Position Description

• Movement of customer freight using dry van within a 2mile radius - pin to pin.
• Adhere to load security regulations (company rules and DOT legislation)
• Properly complete driver documentation as per the company, client and DOT requirements
• Adhere to company SOPs
• Daily inspection of the truck
• Maintain routine communication with dispatch and yard control
• Utilize our proprietary software to receive and complete moves on an as needed basis
• Monitor truck condition and communicate with the regional manager when repair(s) required
• Maintain a clean and tidy workplace
• Inspect trailers
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Valid CDL A license
• Relevant experience preferred
• Experience with computer software and programs
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Customer service skills
