Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Shuttle Driver (CDL A) in Aurora, IL. You will safely transport, load, and unload compressed gas cylinders between Airgas locations, maintaining meticulous documentation and performing vehicle inspections.

The role requires a valid CDL A, hazmat endorsement, and at least one year of recent Class A experience. Compensation includes an hourly rate of $30, with benefits, quarterly bonuses, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class A Driver’s License.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• One year of Class A driving experience in last five years.
• Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification required.
• Able to lift 25–75 lbs regularly and up to 100+ lbs occasionally.
• Outdoor work in varying temperatures.
• Drug-free workplace adherence.
• Overtime flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Safely loads, delivers, and unloads cylinders containing compressed gases or liquids between Airgas locations and returns empty cylinders for refilling.
• Accurately records deliveries and pickups on load manifests and balances shipping documents with truck counts.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reports deficiencies, and conducts cylinder inspections per procedures.
• Interact professionally with associates and customers and communicate any issues to management.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to support dock tasks.

This role is responsible for the safe transportation, loading, and unloading of compressed gas cylinders between Airgas locations while maintaining meticulous documentation and vehicle safety inspections.

• Transportation & Delivery: Safely loads, delivers, and unloads cylinders containing compressed gases or liquids between Airgas branch and plant locations. Returns empty cylinders to facilities for refilling.
• Documentation & Compliance: Accurately records deliveries and pick-ups on load manifests and ensures all shipping and vehicle documents are balanced with truck counts.
• Vehicle & Safety Operations: Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reports deficiencies, conducts cylinder inspections per operating procedures, and strictly observes all safety rules and reporting guidelines.
• Customer & Team Communication: Professionally interacts with associates and customers, helps resolve service inquiries, and maintains timely communication with management regarding any issues or operational changes.
• Warehouse & Equipment Handling: Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment, supporting dock and warehouse tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class A Driver’s License.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Must have the Hazmat Endorsement.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have one (1) year of Class A driving experience within the last five (5) years.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift or move around 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
• Flexible to work overtime as needed.
