Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security is seeking a Shuttle Driver responsible for transporting remote trailers between drop-and-hook locations safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT regulations. This role supports warehouse and delivery operations.

You will operate a Class A tractor for shuttle assignments, document trailer numbers, navigate drop sites, maintain logs, and coordinate with night shift managers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience operating a Class A vehicle (preferred).
  • Clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle for shuttle assignments.
  • Confirm and document the trailer number prior to hooking up for departure.
  • Navigate drop locations and perform drop-and-hook procedures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Accurately maintain logs and records, including trailer numbers, trip details, and any incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with night shift managers and other shuttle drivers to coordinate schedules and address operational needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned tractor; report any maintenance concerns to management immediately.
  • Comply with all company safety procedures and traffic laws.
  • Support team and operations by performing other duties as assigned.

Education

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (required)

  • Clean driving record (required)
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of local and regional roads, highways, and traffic regulations
  • Ability to operate independently and manage time effectively
  • Basic vehicle inspection and reporting abilities
  • Commitment to safety and following DOT and company guidelines
  • Ability to work overnight or evening shifts, including weekends if needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods while operating a commercial vehicle
  • Able to perform drop-and-hook tasks, including bending, climbing, and connecting hoses or cables
  • Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
