Job summary

Oak Park & River Forest High School District 200 (OPRF) is seeking a Show Choir Co-Director for Noteworthy, a student performance group blending singing with dance. In this role you will recruit, lead rehearsals, and coordinate with the band director for performances.

The position is part-time (3-5 hours/week during the school year) with a 0.33 FTE stipend under the Faculty Senate contract. You will plan songs, arrange concepts, and oversee travel to local gigs and competitions, including

Qualifications

  • Ability to recruit and maintain diverse membership.

  • Ability to organize group practices and events for the group.
  • Ability to meet sponsor expectations as stated in Student Activities Sponsor Handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Select songs, hire arrangers/arrange, hire choreographers/choreograph for the show choir set.
  • Plan/prepare instruction for vocal and dance rehearsals Tuesdays 6:30-8:45, Thursdays 6:30-8:45, and some Saturdays 12:0-4:00 in September - early December, then again mid-March through end of April.
  • Plan auditions.
  • Work with band director to coordinate band/choir rehearsals and performances.
  • Coordinate costume purchase for group.
  • Coordinate travel and performances at local gigs in the fall including middle schools and retirement homes.
  • Coordinate and prepare for competition at Herscher Swing and Sing in March.
  • Coordinate and prepare for concert at end of April.
  • Attend Sponsor Meetings and meet expectations given by the Student Activities Director.

Salary: Per Faculty Senate contract, level 4 stipend, 0.33 FTE - $2,062.75

OPRF - WHO WE ARE...

Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, IL, a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 103 clubs and activities, and 34 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 96% graduation rate.

Position Description
