Job summary

L&T Technology Services Limited. seeks an experienced Cost Engineer in Fond du Lac, WI to guide design teams, apply DFA/DFM methods, and drive cost targets across mechanical and electrical components. You will support early planning, create should-cost models, and deliver monthly cost updates to management.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience, proficiency in costing tools (BDI, A-priori), 3D CAD skills (Creo), and strong financial acumen, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of industry experience.
• Proficient in BDI (Boothroyd Dewhurst Inc), A-priori or related costing software.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of a Bill of Material, its development and application.
• Practical knowledge of VA/VE techniques and strong financial awareness.
• Functional understanding of 3D CAD software (Creo Preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to Designers/Design Engineers for proposed new or modified designs to achieve required function at minimum cost.
• Apply DFA and DFM tools to analyze designs and propose improvements.
• Collaborate on a Design to Target approach in early product development planning.
• Develop cost targets for mechanical and electrical engine parts based on CAD models and drawings.
• Provide should-cost analysis reports to procurement for supplier negotiations.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking/teardown and develop should-cost models.
• Participate in VA/VE activities and generate cost-reduction ideas for current production products.
• Present project cost updates with risks and opportunities to higher management monthly.
• Serve as a cost information resource for the organization.
• Provide monthly cost reports and cost tracking of current product.
