Job summary

National Peening in Salem, VA is seeking a Blast Room Operator to join our team in Salem, VA. This full-time role requires operating blast room equipment, performing basic maintenance, and following safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma, basic math skills, and the ability to read and write proficiently. Training will cover pressure washing, peening, and protective gear usage in a controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School diploma and/or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to analyze and resolve basic problems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, extremes of heat and cold, and risk of electrical shock.

Responsibilities

• Perform operation of blast room elements including pressure pot, elevator screw auger assembly and controls for same.
• Trouble shoot operation problems with blast room.
• Wear protective clothing including fresh air supplied helmet and cape, full coveralls, heavy leather gloves, steel-toed shoes.
• Additional duties include pressure washing, assembly/disassembly of chassis dollies, burn off oven operation, peening machine operation as instructed.
