Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Steele, Alabama is seeking a Shot Blaster for the Paint Department on the third shift (8 hour shift, Sunday night through Friday morning).

You will operate shot blasting equipment, read product blueprints, and ensure high quality results while maintaining safety and PPE compliance. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least six months forklift or overhead crane experience, and experience with sandblasting or shot blasting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Shot blast poles using a shot blast hose.
• Maintain and operate shot blasting equipment safely.
• Read product blue prints for blast knowledge.
• Ensure high quality products with visual quality checks.
• Complete appropriate paperwork/log books.
• Assist in masking/taping and crane operation as needed.
• May train as back up painter.
• Work with Long Side Finishing Department.
• Wear PPE and pass FIT/PFT.
• Follow facility safety regulations.
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment.

Valmont - Steele, AL is seeking a Shot Blaster - third shift for our Paint Department. 8 hour shift, Sunday night through Friday morning. Hourly pay plus shift differential.
Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Shot blast poles using a shot blast hose
• Maintain and operate shot blasting equipment properly and safely
• Pull and read product blue prints for blast knowledge
• Ensure high quality products with visual quality check
• Complete appropriate paperwork/log books
• Assist in masking/taping
• Assist in Crane Operation as needed
• May train as back up painter
• Work closely with the Long Side Finishing Department
• Wear required personal protective equipment including supplied air hood (must pass a FIT and PFT)
• Follow facility safety regulations
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Previous experience with sandblasting, shot blasting or auto painting preferred
• Must be mechanically and technically inclined
• Able to read, write, and calculate simple mathematics.

• Able to train and apply training in the paint department
• Able to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs,

• Able to wear required PPE at all times: Hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, reflective vest, long sleeves, long pants, steel toed boots with built in met guards, fresh air feed hood, face shield

Job Summary
Employee will complete a variety of tasks in the Paint department including shot blasting, general clean up, tape/masking, reading prints and completing paperwork. Must follow all processes, procedures and regulations and maintain the highest of standards including no damage to product and/or equipment. Must wear PPE at all times, arrive on time, work the required schedule each week and report any damage or issues to the department supervisor and/or Crew Lead immediately. Must be aware of surroundings at all times, including coworkers.
