Job summary

Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a Short-Term Worker to pose as a figure drawing model for studio art classes. Location: Rancho Cucamonga Campus; Hours vary; hourly rate $30.

The role requires the ability to hold poses from 30 to 90 minutes and to pose according to instructor guidance while maintaining a professional, safe environment.

Applicants with prior experience as an artist's model or dance/yoga background are encouraged to apply; on-site work is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an artist's model or dance/yoga experience.
• Knowledge of how the model demonstrates anatomy, gesture, or content in a drawing.
• Awareness of classical and traditional poses.
• Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
• Understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of Chaffey College.
• Ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
• Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.

Responsibilities

• Posing with and/or without clothing for studio art classes, primarily figure drawing.
• Holding poses selected by the instructor
• Creating or choosing poses that reflect the content of a lesson (as explained by the instructor).
• Providing a full range of traditional life drawing poses including but not limited to the following: gestures, sustained poses, and anatomical studies.
• Demonstrating the flexibility and animation of the human form in short and sustained poses.
• Holding traditional, as well as more experimental or creative poses, as required by the instructor.

Location: Rancho Cucamonga Campus. Working Hours: Hours will vary throughout the semester. Hourly Rate: $30.00

Conditions of Employment

• Work schedule will be determined by the instructor and in consultation with the department coordinator and approved by the dean, not to exceed 980 hours/170 days.
• Physically able to provide a full range of body gestures and poses.
• Ability to hold poses for the sustained drawings ranging anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
• Ability to provide acceptable documentation of authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.

Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
