Job summary

Canal Barge Company is seeking Shore Tankerman for our Chicago land operations. The role requires safety awareness, on-call availability, and the ability to travel as needed. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, and hold a U.S.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Must pass a background check and a physical, including a respirator fit test, with a clean-shaven requirement.
• Residence in the Chicagoland area.
• Must hold a U.S. Merchant Mariner's endorsement as a PIC/DL and possess a current TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct transfers of liquid cargos.
• Follow safety, environmental, and barge processes for incident-free transfers.
• Inspect barges prior to transfers.
• Perform minor maintenance and repair of barges and pumps.
• Inspect safety and transfer equipment.
• Serve as liaison with customer dock personnel.
• Act as first-line emergency responder.
