Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of ecommerce development experience with strong hands-on experience building solutions on Shopify Plus
• Strong frontend experience using Next.js, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Experience with Shopify APIs including Admin API, Storefront API, Customer Account API, GraphQL and Webhooks
• Knowledge of Shopify backend concepts including metaobjects, metafields, and Markets for headless storefronts
• Experience building headless or composable commerce apps using API-first architecture
• Strong understanding of ecommerce fundamentals including catalog, cart, checkout, payments, fulfillment, and order lifecycle

Responsibilities

• Build scalable integrations connecting Shopify with enterprise systems (payments, fulfillment, inventory, pricing, OMS, CRM)

• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Optimize site and API performance, Core Web Vitals, and mobile storefronts

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Shopify Headless Developer to help build and scale modern ecommerce experiences powered by Shopify and a headless frontend architecture. This role will focus on developing high-performance commerce applications using Shopify as the backend commerce engine while building customer-facing experiences using modern frameworks such as Next.js and React. You will work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to build scalable storefront experiences, integrate enterprise systems, and help shape technical solutions that support complex commerce ecosystems. The ideal candidate brings strong Shopify development experience, modern frontend engineering expertise, and a passion for building fast, scalable digital commerce experiences.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain headless ecommerce storefronts using Next.js, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Develop custom commerce experiences across product discovery, product detail pages, cart, checkout, customer accounts, and post-purchase experiences.
• Integrate Shopify with frontend applications using Admin API, Storefront API, Customer Account API, GraphQL, Webhooks, and modern API-driven architecture patterns.
• Model and consume structured commerce content using Shopify metaobjects and metafields to power dynamic merchandising, content blocks, and product data in the storefront.
• Build scalable integrations connecting Shopify with enterprise systems including payments, fulfillment, inventory, pricing, OMS, CRM, and product information platforms.
• Develop custom commerce functionality using Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions, and modern Shopify extensibility frameworks.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Optimize site performance, API performance, Core Web Vitals, mobile experiences, and overall storefront speed.
• Support automated testing including unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage using Playwright or equivalent, alongside deployments, troubleshooting, production support, and continuous platform improvements.
• Use AI-assisted development tooling (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) as part of day-to-day engineering workflow to accelerate delivery, testing, and documentation.
• Stay current on emerging Shopify capabilities, headless commerce trends, and modern development best practices.

What We're Looking For

• 3-5+ years of ecommerce development experience with strong hands-on experience building solutions on Shopify Plus.
• Strong experience building frontend applications using Next.js, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience working with Shopify APIs including Admin API, Storefront API, Customer Account API, GraphQL, Webhooks, and custom integrations.
• Working knowledge of Shopify backend concepts including metaobjects, metafields, and Markets in support of headless storefront development.
• Experience building headless or composable commerce applications using API-first architecture.
• Strong understanding of ecommerce fundamentals including catalog management, cart and checkout, payments, promotions, fulfillment, and order lifecycle management.
• Experience integrating Shopify with third-party systems such as ERP, OMS, PIM, payment providers, or fulfillment platforms.
• Strong understanding of modern web performance optimization and frontend engineering best practices.
• Experience working within Agile product development environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Hydrogen and Oxygen, Shopify's native React framework and edge hosting runtime.
• Experience integrating headless Shopify storefronts with headless CMS platforms such as Sanity, Contentful, Builder.io, or AEM.
• Experience implementing authentication and identity patterns including Auth0, Okta, or Shopify Customer Accounts within a headless storefront.
• Experience working with composable commerce or MACH architecture.
• Experience with server-side rendering, caching strategies, CDN optimization, and edge deployments.
• Experience with platforms such as Vercel, Datadog, Sentry, or similar developer tooling.
• Experience supporting WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility in production React storefronts.
• Experience working on enterprise-scale commerce implementations with complex system integrations.
• Shopify certifications preferred.
