Job summary

Weber Metals, Inc. is seeking a Shop Worker II to assist in all aspects of the Die Forge Operations Department. The role is flexible and may move between Presses, Die Maintenance, DF Saws, MFG Tech, Coatings Tech, and Utility tasks to build skills for a specialized future role.

Candidate will meet safety and quality standards, participate in a team environment, and report on time with proper PPE for each shift. Prior forging/metals experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements.
• Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Minimum 3 months at Weber or equivalent experience.
• Experience in forging or metals industry preferred.
• Score minimum 6 on skills matrix.

SUMMARY

Shop Worker II assists in all aspects of the Die Forge Operations Department. The role is flexible within the Die Forge group, moved into various areas of operation as needed. These include Presses, Die Maintenance, DF Saws, MFG Tech, Coatings Tech, and Utility positions. The goal is to attain skills and training to transition to a more specialized and permanent role in the Die Forge Operations group aligned with the individual's skill set.

Equipment Skills Level Requirements: minimum 6 points (internal skills matrix), moderate level on forklift, moderate level in mechanical skills, 2 pts total on equipment (1 moderate or 2 basic).

MAJOR JOB DUTIES

• All functions of Shop Worker I
• Operate forklift/manipulator without supervision
• Operate different types of cranes without supervision
• Work independently on workshop basics
• Demonstrate importance of the Weber Metals Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Business Management policies
• Work in a team environment to meet target dates
• Report to work on time with proper PPE and be fully engaged for the entire shift

EQUIPMENT

• Perform press setups with supervision
• Load and unload material without supervision
• Perform basic spray techniques without supervision
• Basic understanding of furnaces, temps and loading

SAW (STOCK, TRIM, TABLE)

• Basic operation of equipment without supervision
• Perform basic tool changes without supervision
• Layout and saw simple complexity and perform to Weber Metals quality and productivity standards

DIE MAINTENANCE

• Ensure used dies are replaced in designated storage area
• Load dies into die furnace without supervision
• Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on dies/tooling in accordance with WM best practice post forging operations

ETCHLINE

• Load and organize etch line baskets without supervision
• Basic cleaning of tanks with minimal supervision
• Identify parts with workorders and part numbers

REPAIR

• Remove basic forging defects in blockers through grinding, sanding, or polishing and properly blend to avoid defect in subsequent operation without supervision
• Deburr sharp edges on parts

RING MILL

• Configure mill in setup mode and make setup with supervision
• Basic knowledge of mandrels and other ring mill tooling
• Assist an established Ring Mill Helper with setup

MATERIAL HANDLING

• Load and unload trucks with supervision
• Record material transfer between plants with guidance
• Organize and stack pallets without supervision
• Locate job specific documents
• Receive raw material under supervision
