Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Shop Technician II in Oklahoma to repair, inspect, and test equipment in a busy shop.

You will read blueprints, troubleshoot electronics, and perform routine shop maintenance while ensuring safety and quality standards. The role may require on-call duties and occasional field work, with a starting pay around $21.90 per hour and potential up to $29.30 per hour based on experience.

About the role:

The Shop Technician II primarily works in the shop making repairs to equipment as required. The Shop Technician II is a skilled, experienced technician with the ability to work autonomously, synthesize problems and provide solutions. This individual will be responsible for assisting in training and mentoring other technicians.

Additional Information:

• Starting Pay: $21.90, additional based on experience, estimated starting max $25.00
• Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 24/7 on call, currently working every other Saturdays
• Overtime based on business need
• Relocation or sponsorship assistance is NOT available for this position.

What you will do:

• Assemble and break down, clean new or used equipment, inspect, repair and test grease and paint equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
• Execute general shop maintenance such as cleanup of shop, work area and equipment
• Perform shipping and receiving responsibilities
• Responsible for the safety of self and others including reporting of all work-related injuries, near misses, equipment damage and unsafe acts as soon as practicable to supervisor or senior technician. Adhere to and exercise Stop Work Authority and Management of Change
• Troubleshoot, repair, reassembly and testing based on customer communications
• Operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools and products up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain SPM Oil & Gas company supplied assets and any other equipment, including site specific equipment, as it relates to company policy
• Maintain a professional appearance and work attitude at all times
• Demonstrate the ability to perform independently or in a team setting
• Available on 24-hour call to respond to customer needs on special occurrences
• Perform occasional required work in the field
• Performs other duties as assigned

What you will have:

• Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
• Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot electronics
• One year of equivalent work experience or training

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
• Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
• Noise Level: Moderate

Summary Pay Range:

$21.90 - $29.30
