Bluco Corporation, located in Naperville, IL, is seeking a Shop Technician to support our Heat Treat Engineering and Manufacturing teams. In this hands‑on role, you’ll prepare parts and fixturing for production, assemble custom components, inspect parts for quality, and help maintain the equipment and work environment that keep our operations running smoothly. Basic Tasks:
  • Support the Heat Treat Engineering process by preparing parts and fixtures for production and ensuring materials are ready for heat treatment operations.
  • Clean, oil, and prepare parts prior to processing to meet quality and production standards.
  • Operate the steam cleaning booth to clean large components and perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment remains in safe working condition.
  • Prepare, organize, and load baskets for heat treat operations according to established procedures.
  • Rack and secure small parts for heat treatment, ensuring proper placement to prevent damage and maintain quality requirements.
  • Assemble simple custom fixtures and components by following drawings, work instructions, and established assembly procedures.
  • Clean, inspect, and perform minor repairs on used fixturing to extend service life and ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Conduct visual inspections of parts and components to identify defects, damage, or nonconforming conditions before and after processing.
  • Perform laser scanning inspections to measure flatness and verify dimensional requirements before and after heat treatment.
  • Accurately record inspection results and communicate quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with general shop and facility upkeep, including painting, minor building repairs, organizing work areas, and performing basic outdoor maintenance such as snow removal, landscaping, or grounds cleanup as needed.
  • Assist with other production, engineering, or shop support activities as assigned to meet operational needs.
General Requirements:
  • Mechanically inclined with a demonstrated ability to understand how equipment, tools, and mechanical systems function.
  • Hands‑on experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, automotive, construction, or other mechanical environment required.
  • Genuine interest in manufacturing, engineering, and learning new technical skills with a willingness to take on a variety of shop responsibilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical or process‑related issues with minimal supervision and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to convert between metric and imperial (inch) measurements and use basic measuring tools.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment while following established safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and overhead crane.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing production needs, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the workday.

Schedule: Monday – Thursday 7am – 4:30, Friday 7am – 11
