Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a field-ready Equipment/Maintenance Technician in Washington state. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, and timely repairs to keep rental equipment in peak condition for store deployment.

You will perform inspections, repairs, and safe operation of shop equipment while documenting work on tablets and coordinating with IT as needed. Candidates should meet education and experience requirements and be able to travel as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• 10% Administrative: document work on tablet, manage parts usage and labor, run parts inventory, assist IT as needed.
• 20% Inspections: perform aerial lift inspections and clean equipment/trailers.
• 30% PMs & PDIs: conduct preventive maintenance and pre-delivery inspections to ensure rental readiness.
• 30% Troubleshooting & Repairs: diagnose/repair small engines, fuel systems, oil/air filtration, tires/wheels, trailers.
• 10% Safety: follow shop safety, handle materials, operate forklift in shop/yard.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for basic repairs, preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and deployment of machines in the rental fleet, including earth-moving, aerial, landscaping, and material handling equipment. Regular preventive maintenance of equipment is required to ensure that it remains in rental-ready condition, and is less likely to experience breakdowns on the job site.

Key Responsibilities:

• 10% Administrative Work - Documents all work performed on tablet technology, including completion of work orders to capture parts usage and labor, performing parts inventory counts, etc; Checks GPS units on equipment and ensures they are activated and properly checking in, and troubleshoots with IT team as needed; Rescues equipment from job sites as needed
• 20% Perform Inspections - Performs aerial lift inspections according to required checklist; Cleans equipment and trailers
• 30% Perform PMs and PDIs - Performs preventive maintenance (PMs) on equipment according to prescribed schedule/maintenance intervals; Performs pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on equipment and trailers to ensure rental readiness prior to deploying to a store
• 30% Perform Troubleshooting & Repairs - Performs troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc; Changes wheels, tracks, and tires on machines and trailers; Performs maintenance and repairs on trailers
• 10% Safety - Follows shop safety protocol, including proper storage of supplies and fuel, proper disposal of waste oils and fluids, and proper lifting and moving of materials and equipment; Safely operates forklift to load, unload, and move equipment and materials in the shop and yard

Travel Requirements:

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

• Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Working Conditions:

• Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
