Job summary

James Fisher Technologies LLC is seeking a Shop Support Technician to provide general operational support in a fabrication shop. Responsibilities include material handling, component kitting, equipment operation, receiving support, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

The role supports Welders, Machinists, Fabricators, Receipt Inspectors and Shop Management, with a Monday–Friday 9/80 schedule and every other Friday off, promoting work-life balance.

Qualifications

FUNCTION:

The Shop Support Technician provides general operational support to JFT's shop and manufacturing activities, including material handling, component kitting, equipment operation, receiving support, transportation, housekeeping, and other duties supporting Welders, Machinists, Fabricators, Receipt Inspectors, and Shop Management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Basic knowledge of fabrication shop tooling & processes.
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel MS Word, MS Outlook).
• Detail oriented with good written & verbal communication skills.
• Able to read and interpret simple drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• This position may require pre-employment drug screening and will be subject to the JFT Drug & Alcohol Policy.
• Must be able to pass OSHA Safety Training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Strength and Stamina: The job involves lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) is required.
• Manual Dexterity: Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer.
• Visual Acuity: Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work.
• Mobility: Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching is required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and equipment.
• Coordination: The role requires good hand-eye coordination to operate equipment safely and effectively.
• Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Machine and fabrication shop environment around equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines, press brakes and forklifts. Welding operations are often taking place nearby. This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
