Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a hands-on Shop Supervisor in Philadelphia, PA. You will oversee daily fabrication shop operations in a heavy steel environment, lead production teams, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial production.
• 2+ years leading or supervising production teams.
• Familiarity with welding standards and codes (API 650, AWS D1.1).
• Experience with MIG, FCAW, SAW, and TIG welding processes.
• Ability to read production docs and technical information.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

About The Opportunity

Well-established industrial manufacturer is seeking a Fabrication Shop Supervisor to oversee daily shop operations in a heavy steel fabrication environment. This role is responsible for leading production teams, maintaining quality and safety standards, ensuring schedule adherence, and driving operational efficiency throughout the facility.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive base salary, along with bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, and paid time off (PTO). This is a Monday-Friday position with hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support daily manufacturing and shop floor operations

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 5+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial production experience
• 2+ years of experience leading or supervising production teams
• Working knowledge of API 650 standards for the fabrication and inspection of welded steel storage tanks
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel
• Familiarity with ASME Section IX welding and welder qualification requirements (WPS, PQR, WPQ)
• Hands-on understanding of MIG (GMAW), FCAW, SAW, and TIG (GTAW) welding processes
• Ability to interpret production documentation and technical information
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based business systems
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or related industries
• Formal safety training or safety leadership experience
• Continuous improvement, Lean, or process optimization experience
• Experience operating within quality-driven production environments
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus
• Familiarity with production planning or manufacturing software systems

Working Environment

This position is based in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to welding, cutting, grinding, and heavy equipment. Candidates should be comfortable working on the production floor, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
