HOLT Group is seeking an entry-level mechanic for its Texas First Rentals (TFR) location in Bulverde, Texas. This position demonstrates the ability to perform basic inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals.

Essential Functions
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Assist in the rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining of equipment and components
  • Learn how to plan equipment and component repairs
  • Learn how to complete parts orders and identify parts for return
  • Maintain all equipment and work areas – keep in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Complete all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Provide regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Operation and control skills – controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills – determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact position
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet; climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment
  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
