Job summary

CraneWorks/RentalWorks in La Vergne, TN is seeking a Service Technician to maintain and repair mobile rental/construction equipment and on-highway trucks. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems using OEM software and diagnostic tools, with emphasis on diesel engines and brakes.

The role requires troubleshooting, repair of heavy equipment, and strict adherence to safety in a busy shop environment. Evening and weekend shifts are expected, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all RentalWorks and customer owned equipment.
• Operate and test equipment during rental ready process.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of rental equipment.
• Diagnose and repair equipment using electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Assist in rebuilding and repairing major machine components.
• Assist in identifying repairs covered by warranty.
• Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports.
• Uphold and practice high safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various types of mobile rental/construction equipment and on-highway trucks. The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems including the use of OEM software and other diagnostic tools is essential. Experience servicing and repairing on-highway trucks including diesel engines and brakes is a requirement.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferred

License & Certification

• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

Working Conditions

This position is performed primarily in a heavy equipment repair shop and outdoors, where employees are exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, grease, vibration, and other environmental conditions associated with heavy equipment and truck maintenance. The Shop Service Technician regularly works around moving machinery, powered equipment, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical components, and other shop hazards while adhering to strict safety procedures and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting heavy components, as well as the ability to safely operate equipment and use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and OEM software. Technicians must maintain constant awareness of their surroundings and work safely in a fast-paced environment where multiple repair activities may be occurring simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive wrist and hand movements, hearing and seeing (depth perception and peripheral vision)


• Standing for long periods of time


• Sitting for long periods of timeWork outside in all weather conditions include extreme heat and cold


• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts


• Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles


• Must be able to safely climb various types of ladders


• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds


• Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely


• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
