Midsouth Steel in College Park, GA seeks a Shop Safety Manager to strengthen safety culture across two fabrication facilities. The role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and focused on regulatory compliance and worker well-being in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities include onboarding, audits, OSHA logs, training, and safe loading practices for trucks. Experience in fabrication environments is highly preferred.

Formación

• OSHA 30 or OSHA 511 certification is required.
• Additional safety certifications will be considered.
• Experience with incident investigation processes.
• Knowledge of EMR and workers’ compensation impact is preferred.
• prior fabrication or machine shop exposure is valued.

Responsabilidades

• Onboard new hires with job-specific safety orientations.
• Partner with Safety Managers to improve shop safety practices.
• Conduct shop safety audits and address findings.
• Maintain OSHA logs and ensure timely reporting.
• Review and update emergency evacuation plans.
• Provide safety training for machinery, tools and equipment.
• Ensure safe loading practices for transport trucks.
• Assist employees with work-related medical appointments when needed.

Shop Safety Manager

Midsouth Steel, a leader in structural steel fabrication and erection for over 25 years, is seeking a dedicated Shop Safety Manager to support and enhance safety operations across our two neighboring fabrication facilities.

This role is critical to maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and protecting the well‑being of our team. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and passionate about workplace safety in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary safety representative for all shop and office new hires during onboarding
  • Deliver job‑specific safety orientations
  • Ensure employees understand and commit to all safety policies and procedures
• Partner with company Safety Managers to evaluate, improve, and enforce shop safety practices
• Conduct shop audits and address safety concerns based on audit findings
• Maintain and manage OSHA logs and ensure accurate, timely reporting
• Oversee and regularly review emergency evacuation plans for both shop and office environments
• Provide safety training for shop employees on machinery, tools, and equipment
• Ensure safe loading practices and compliance standards are met for Midsouth Steel transport trucks
• Support employees with work‑related medical care, including attending appointments when necessary

Qualifications & Requirements

• OSHA 30 or OSHA 511 Certification (General Industry – 29 CFR 1910) required
• Additional safety certifications will be considered
• Knowledge of incident investigation
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
• Strong understanding of Experience Modification Rate (EMR) and its impact on workers’ compensation
• Prior experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment
• Equipment certifications (or the ability to obtain and train others) for:
  • Overhead cranes
  • Forklifts
  • Plasma cutters
  • Welding equipment

Train‑the‑trainer experience is a strong plus
