Lead the overall performance and strategic direction of the Shop Department.
Coach, develop, and hold supervisors and operational staff accountable for results.
Oversee purchasing and procurement of materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and other operational resources.
Develop strong vendor partnerships, negotiate agreements, monitor supplier performance, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
Establish effective inventory controls and replenishment strategies that improve accuracy, availability, and accountability while reducing stockouts and excess inventory.
Partner with Operations, Project Management, and Field leadership to anticipate material, equipment, fabrication, and operational needs.
Provide strategic oversight of shop production, ACM fabrication support, warehouse, delivery, and fleet functions through department supervisors.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, purchasing expenditures, and operational costs.
Establish and monitor KPIs related to inventory, purchasing, vendor performance, material readiness, quality, delivery, fleet, safety, employee development, and continuous improvement.
Maintain an active presence throughout the shop, warehouse, fleet yard, and storage areas to understand workflow, identify opportunities, and support supervisors.
Develop and improve department procedures, workflows, systems, and operational controls.
Evaluate and implement digital tools, automation, inventory and purchasing systems, dashboards, and other technology that improves accuracy, efficiency, visibility, and cost control.
Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, employee development, and continuous improvement.
At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in shop operations, purchasing, inventory management, warehouse operations, construction operations, logistics, or a related field.
Experience coordinating operational activities, managing materials and equipment, working with purchasing or vendor relationships, and leading or supervising employees.
Strong leadership, organization, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to use operational and financial data to identify trends, solve problems, and improve performance.
Comfortable learning and adopting new technology, including inventory systems, procurement software, reporting dashboards, and other operational tools.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Commercial roofing, construction, or related trade experience is preferred but not required.
Experience with Kaizen or another continuous‑improvement methodology is strongly preferred.
Relevant education, technical training, certifications, or demonstrated internal experience may be considered in combination with experience.
This is a hands‑on leadership position that works across office, warehouse, shop, fabrication, and outdoor yard environments. The position requires regular interaction with employees, supervisors, vendors, and operational leaders and occasional local travel to support business needs.
