Job summary

SUDDEN SERVICE INC seeks a diesel mechanics and hydraulics specialist to inspect and repair lift trucks and equipment. You will diagnose gasoline, diesel, and propane engines, inspect and repair components, and perform routine maintenance using diagnostic tools.

Candidates should have vocational schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair with at least three years of field experience; welding tests may be required for advancement.

Qualifications

• Reads blueprints and technical material to diagnose issues.
• 3+ years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and diagnostics.
• Welding test AWSD14 is encouraged/required for future promotions.

Responsibilities

• Inspects lift trucks and equipment to determine repairs.
• Performs repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines.
• Inspects, adjusts, and repairs components as needed.
• Repairs cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Performs preventative maintenance as needed to improve the condition and performance of the fleet.
• Operates equipment to troubleshoot and test equipment as needed.
• Maintains records of all maintenance performed.
• Assists parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Takes service calls and provides assistance when the Service Manager is unavailable.
• Cleans and maintains garage area as needed.

Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test.
