Job summary

Taylor Sudden Service, a subsidiary of The Taylor Group Inc., is seeking a diesel mechanic in Beaumont, TX. The role involves inspecting and repairing lift trucks and equipment, diagnosing engine and hydraulic systems, and performing preventative maintenance to keep fleets operating at peak performance.

Responsibilities include using diagnostic tools, reading blueprints, and documenting all maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Three years on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
• Must have experience with aerial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lift trucks and equipment to determine repairs needed.
• Perform repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction.
• Inspect, adjust, and repair components as needed.
• Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to improve fleet condition and performance.
• Operate equipment to troubleshoot and test equipment as needed.
• Maintain records of all maintenance performed.
• Assist parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Take service calls and provide assistance when Service Manager is unavailable.
• Clean and maintain garage area as needed.
• Other related duties as required.

• Inspects lift trucks and equipment to determine the extent of repairs.
• Performs needed repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction.
• Inspects, adjusts, and repairs components as needed.
• Repairs cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Performs preventative maintenance as needed to improve the condition and performance of the fleet.
• Operates equipment to troubleshoot and test equipment as needed.
• Maintains records of all maintenance performed.
• Assists parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Takes service calls and provides assistance when the Service Manager is unavailable.
• Cleans and maintains garage area as needed.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
• Must have experience with aerial equipment.

Education and Experience

• Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
• While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.
