Job summary

SRM Concrete is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager / Diesel Mechanic to lead a team of mechanics, oversee shop operations, and perform repairs on diesel-powered trucks, mixers, and heavy equipment. You’ll mentor staff, ensure safety, and drive reliability while maintaining accurate maintenance records.

You’ll work closely with operations to schedule repairs, stay current on new diesel technology, and help deliver a high-quality, hometown service with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Shop Manager, or Lead Technician.
• Experience in the concrete or heavy equipment industry is a plus.
• Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanics and shop staff, setting the standard for safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues on diesel vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify problems and determine the best solutions.
• Rebuild or replace major diesel engine components such as heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Coordinate with operations to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures in the shop and on job sites.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work.
• Stay current on diesel engine technology and repair techniques.
• Collaborate with the team to get the job done.
