LFG Specialties, an APTIM company, seeks a Shop Laborer - Industrial Painter in Findlay, OH to prepare equipment for coating and apply industrial paint systems. Responsibilities include abrasive blasting, fabrication support, and crate building in a fast-paced shop environment.

Minimum 2 years in painting/coating, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and read shop drawings are required; preference for experience with epoxy, alkyd enamel, and zinc-based coatings. Four 10-hour shifts, overtime possible.

• Perform sanding, grinding, cleaning, and abrasive blasting to meet coating specs.
• Assist with flare insulation, assembly, crating, and fabrication-support tasks.
• Read tape measures and perform basic shop measurements.
• Build crates and prepare equipment for shipment.
• Assist with PVC piping and related fabrication tasks.

Job description

LFG Specialties, an APTIM company, is seeking a Shop Laborer - Industrial Painter to join our manufacturing team in Findlay, Ohio. The primary responsibilities of this position are preparing industrial equipment for coating and applying industrial paint systems. The employee will also perform abrasive blasting and support equipment fabrication, assembly, material handling, crating, and other shop activities as production needs require.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Apply epoxy, alkyd-enamel, zinc-rich, and other specified industrial coating systems to structural steel, piping, skids, tanks, flare components, and other fabricated equipment.
• Operate Binks pressure-pot and air-assisted airless spray equipment in accordance with approved work practices.
• Perform sanding, grinding, cleaning, and abrasive blasting to achieve the cleanliness and surface profile required by the applicable coating specification.
• Assist with flare insulation, equipment assembly, crating, and other fabrication-support activities.
• Assist with steel-component preparation and cutting using saws and other fabrication equipment after receiving required training.
• Build crates and prepare equipment and materials for shipment.
• Assist with PVC piping and related fabrication tasks.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Safely operate hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, saws, sanders, and measuring devices, after receiving required training.

Read and accurately use a tape measure to perform fabrication and assembly tasks.

Mask and protect equipment components before surface preparation, blasting, or painting

Mix, thin, and apply coatings in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable project requirements

Monitor temperature, humidity, dew point, coating thickness, coverage, cure time, and recoat windows as assigned

Inspect completed work and perform touch-up or coating repairs as needed.

Clean and maintain spray pots, hoses, guns, abrasive-blasting equipment, and related surface-preparation equipment.

Assist qualified electrical and mechanical personnel with equipment assembly, component installation, conduit preparation, wire handling, and other production-support activities under appropriate supervision. Electrical work is limited to tasks for which the employee has been trained and authorized.

Follow all safety procedures, including respiratory-protection, hazardous-material, lockout tagout, and personal protective equipment requirements applicable to assigned duties.

Perform other fabrication-shop duties as assigned based on production needs

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of or industrial painting and/or coating experience, preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, or comparable experience. Equivalent combinations of relevant experience and demonstrated aptitude may be considered.

Experience applying epoxy, alkyd enamel, and zinc-based coatings.

Familiarity with industrial spray equipment and painting techniques.

Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.

Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic shop measurements.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Ability to read basic shop drawings, work instructions, coating specifications, and safety data sheets.

Ability to wear required respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment, subject to applicable medical clearance and fit testing.

Willingness to perform painting as the primary duty while supporting other fabrication and assembly activities as production needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating sandblast equipment.
• Fabrication shop or manufacturing experience.
• Experience working with PVC piping and steel components.
• Forklift or material handling experience.
• Monday - Thursday
• 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Four 10-hour shifts each week

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $25.00- $29.00 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
