Job summary

Airgas in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Shop Laborer to support welding equipment rentals. The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with an hourly pay range of $22–$27 plus bonus.

Responsibilities include keeping a clean shop, assisting technicians, and ensuring safety compliance. You will test and calibrate equipment, repaint and decal welders, replace parts, and perform preventive maintenance while coordinating with branch staff and handling basic shop duties.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
0-1 years of related technical experience; we welcome those early in their career or transitioning from similar fields.
Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required for this role.

Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Test and calibrate machines for rent or sale.
Repaint parts and apply decals to welders.
Replace defective parts and perform preventative maintenance.
Procure parts to complete repairs.
Inspect returned equipment for operation and damage.
Operate forklift or pallet jack to move machines.
Maintain communication with branch personnel.
Perform other shop duties as required.

Job Duties

Keep a clean working environment and assist other technicians in the shop as needed.
Maintains a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
Ensures a safe work environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
Test and calibrate machines to see if they are functional for rent or sale.
Repaint parts, touch up paint, and put decals on welders to keep up the general appearance.
Replace defective parts and do any preventative maintenance required.
Get parts as required in order to complete repairs.
Inspect returned equipment for proper operation and /or damage by the customer.
Operate a forklift, pallet jack or other necessary equipment to move machines and equipment in the shop.
Maintains communication with all branch personnel.
Performs other related operational/shop duties as required.
