Job summary

MGX Equipment Services in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking an experienced crane technician for the Baton Rouge branch, reporting to the Service Manager.

You will diagnose, repair and inspect Grove and Manitowoc cranes, read electrical/hydraulic schematics, and perform annual inspections while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years as Mechanic/Technician.
• Experience with Grove RT & TMS, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC/traditional cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer focus.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect cranes to diagnose defects.
• Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair components.
• Read and interpret operating and parts manuals, blueprints and drawings.
• Test machinery after repair to OEM specs.
• Prepare parts and drawings for jobs.
• Perform annual inspections.
• Complete reports and time sheets accurately.
• Capable of working independently and delivering customer service.

• Candidates hired for this role will receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service; and be eligible for our Tool Reimbursement Program of up to $1,500 per calendar year

Essential Job Functions

• Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects.
• Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
• Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
• Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
• Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
• Provides excellent customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician required.
• Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
• Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.

Pay & Training

This position offers a pay range between $26.00 - $53.00 per hour depending on skills and qualifications for non-bargaining employees. Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis and there are 14 days in the pay period, beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday.

A customized training plan and career path is identified for each technician and provided within the first week of employment, outlining growth and advancement opportunities.
